Assists
and follows the direction of the lead teacher in daily
schedules and program activities to provide an effective
program for preschool children.
Helps
arrange room and play materials to accommodate the daily
schedules.
Helps
create adult-made games and play materials and assists
with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment.
Conducts
appropriate play and learning activities to foster individual
and group activity development. Leads children in songs,
games, finger plays, and other activities.
Carries
out activities that promote cognitive development. Helps
children articulate words, sentences, and ideas. Explains
basic concepts such as numbers, letters, colors and
shapes and recommends appropriate audiovisual materials
for illustration. Prepares activities that enable children
to recognize letters, colors and numbers. Labels items
in the classroom to promote vocabulary development.
Supervises
the room during the absence of the lead teacher.
Attends
all staff meetings and recommended training programs
and conferences.
Converses
with children to enhance social and language development.
