and conducts activities that meet the physical, social,
emotional and intellectual needs of each child based
on program objectives and philosophy.
Plans
and implements daily schedules and activity plans. Arranges
room and play materials to accommodate daily schedule.
Helps
create adult-made games and play materials such as mixing
paint, play dough and assembling props for drama play
activities.
Receives/releases
children to parents, noting all special instruction
that may be given and informing staff.
Creates
a pleasant, inviting atmosphere for children. Ensures
the safety and sanitation of children through constant
supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper
maintenance of equipment.
Participates
in training sessions, staff meetings and parent conferences.
Interacts
with children during programmed activities. Uses approved
child guidance and caregiving techniques that support
overall program objectives. Maintains continuous observation
of children to detect early signs of distress or abnormal
behavior.
Serves
as a leader to teacher aides, responsible for the operation
of the classroom in accordance with the applicable guidelines.
