Frequently Asked Questions

Maximum ratios are within State Regulatory Guidelines which are as follows:

Infants 1:5, Ones: 1:8, Twos 1:10, Threes 1:15, Fours 1:18

State PreK 1:10 Aides float between classes assisting teachers.

Q: What age groups do you provide care for?

We provide care for ages six weeks to twelve years of age.

Q: Do you provide any learning activities and if so, what kinds of activities?

Our State PreK Programs use High Scope and High Reach curriculum. All other age groups use Directed Learning Experiences appropriate for the developmental levels of the children. Daily activities include music and movement, language, arts and crafts, storytelling, science, math, and computer time.

Q: When are payments due and how are they to be made?

Payments are to be made in advance or prior to the week of service. Fees are assessed weekly but payments may be made in other increments upon approval of the director, e.g. monthly, bi-weekly, etc. so long as they are made in advance. Only cash, checks and money orders are accepted.

Q: Do you have any forms of security for the safety of children?

Yes, we have video cameras in each classroom which may be viewed in the lobby. All parents are issued a Village Identification Card with photo of parents nd child(ren). Parents must escort child to classroom to sign-in and sign-out the child. Other persons on the authorized pick-up list must present a picture I.D.

Q: Are meals provided and if so, how much do they cost?

Yes, meals are provided for all children except infants who are only on formula milk. There is no charge for this benefit. Children receive breakfast, a hot nutritious meal for lunch, and an afternoon snack after naptime or upon arrival of school age children to the Village. All menus are based on USDA guidelines.

Q: Do you administer medications?

Yes, however, only if the medication is prescribed for the child. Medications are normally given at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Q: Do you potty train children and if so, at what age?

Yes we assist in potty training children. This is a tasking for our two year old classes when the child indicates he/she is ready and parents are prepared to carry through with training at home.

Q: Do you accept children of diverse cultures?

Yes, not only do we accept them but we also respect them. We believe the development of the child is greatly influenced by a child's race, religion, and parent's national origin. We aspire to provide care for children of all cultures as represented by the composition of our nation.

Q. Are the teaching staff required to have a degree or some form of certification?

Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education is a requirement for our State PreK classes. Other teachers may have a CDA or accumulation of child development training as prescribed by the Office of School Readiness. All staff are required to have CPR/First Aide certification.
